Dad unpacked a picnic basket overflowing with sandwiches, fruit, and juice boxes. They ate their lunch while watching a playful crab scuttle across the rocks. Dad taught Audrey and Daniel how to navigate using a compass and chart, showing them how to identify landmarks and plan their course. Daniel even got to try steering the boat under Dad's watchful eye. Audrey, meanwhile, kept a lookout for marine life, excitedly pointing out every passing bird and fish. As the sun began to set, painting the sky in fiery hues of orange and pink, they headed back to shore. The Song Ling Tang Gong Hall stands solemnly, with various exquisite wood carvings and murals showcasing the long history and profound culture of the Tang family. The thick walls of the old village bear witness to our ancestors’ commitment to and protection of this tranquil home. The continuous incense in the temple evokes a strong sense of local customs. I was fortunate to grow up in buildings like the Shik Lu and Chong Him Hall, which blend traditional Chinese features with Western architectural elements. The winding stairs and airy terraces all highlight the unique charm of this cultural fusion. Even in today's age of towering buildings, Lung Yeuk Tau retains its rustic village charm. Villages like Wing Ning and New Walled Village still preserve their circular wall layouts, and one can occasionally catch a glimpse of ancient wells in the alleys, making it feel as if we've traveled back to ancient times. During major festivals, we ring the heavy bronze bell in front of the familiar Tin Hau Temple, hoping for the Goddess of Heaven's blessings. The historic sound of the bell seems to tell the stories of this land. Perhaps it is these historical buildings that nurture the cultural foundation of us, the children of Lung Yeuk Tau. We have personally experienced the unique humanistic atmosphere here since childhood; it has deeply imprinted itself in our hearts, becoming an indispensable part of us. Lung Yeuk Tau, nestled beneath these beautiful mountains, carries a long history and accumulates rich culture. We, the young people who grew up here, will continue to defend this peaceful homeland, ensuring its brilliance shines forever.

Mom and Dad’s incredible journey begins in Portugal, where they meet in 2019 at a 3D design course—Mom was 28 and teaching interior design classes, and Dad, 27, was dreaming of becoming an architect in Canada. Page 3 They walk along the riverbank and find tall reeds. Rami explains, “We use these reeds to make papyrus, a special paper for writing.” Ava gently touches the soft green stems. Page 4 Next, Rami leads them to a huge pyramid. It points high into the sky. “Pharaoh Khufu built this long ago,” says Rami. “Our people believe the pharaoh is very important.” Page 5 Inside the pyramid, they see stone walls covered with hieroglyphs, the ancient Egyptian way of writing. Pictures of birds, eyes, and shapes tell stories about the pharaoh’s life. Page 6 They quietly walk into a room with a sarcophagus, a big stone box that holds a mummy. “This mummy was once a great ruler,” says Rami. Sam and Ava feel a little scared, but also very curious! Page 7 At midday, they visit the busy market. People trade goods like wheat, dates, and cloth. “We use boats to carry our goods along the Nile,” explains Rami. Sam and Ava see bright, woven baskets full of fruit. Page 8 It is time to say goodbye. Rami waves. “Come again!” Sam and Ava open the magic book and zoom back home.
