World Standards Day (or International Standards Day) is an international day celebrated on 14 October each year.[1] The day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME),[2] International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Finally, after a tiring journey, they managed to carry the golden stone to the bottom of the tree where they stopped. When the stone was placed on the ground, it reflected beautifully. The three of them sat by the stone, enjoying the fruits of their labour. From that day on, the golden stone became a symbol of their friendship.
