In the magical land of Numberville, the numbers lived in cozy houses on a street called Place Value Lane. There were two neighborhoods: Tens Town and Ones Village. One day, in Ones Village, the number 3 was trying to give 5 apples to a friend, but there was a problem. 3 didn't have enough apples! Oh no! How can I give 5 apples when I only have 3? thought the number. But in Numberville, the numbers always help each other. So, 3 had an idea: "I’ll borrow some apples from my neighbor in Tens Town!" So, 3 went next door to Tens Town to talk to the number 6 who lived there. "Hey 6, I need to give away more apples than I have. Can I borrow some from you?" 6 smiled and said, "Of course! We’re neighbors, and neighbors always help out." So, 6 gave 1 of its apples to 3, but because it was from Tens Town, it was worth 10 apples! Now, 3 turned into 13 with the borrowed apples! "Yay!" said 13. "Now I have more than enough to give away 5 apples." After sharing 5 apples, 13 was left with 8 apples. And since 6 gave 1 apple to Ones Village, it turned into 5 in Tens Town. The numbers were happy because they helped each other, and everyone got exactly what they needed. And so, whenever a number doesn’t have enough to subtract, they just borrow from their neighbors in Tens Town, and everything works out perfectly.

1. The starfish was very sad. She lost her favorite shell! It was the prettiest shell in the whole ocean, shiny with all the colors of the rainbow. Starfish looked everywhere – in the seaweed, under the sand, and even inside the big clam's house. But she couldn't find it. 2. The clownfish saw Starfish looking sad. "What's wrong, Starfish?" he asked. Starfish told him about her lost shell. Clownfish felt sorry for her. "Don't worry," he said, "We will find it!" 3. Clownfish and Starfish looked for the shell. They asked all their friends – the octopus, the crab, and even the old seahorse. Everyone helped, but the shell was still gone. 4. The turtle, who was very wise, came over. "Did you look in the ocean current?" he asked slowly. "Sometimes the current takes things far away." 5. The dolphin was very fast. "I will swim and look for your shell in the current, Starfish," he said. Dolphin zoomed through the water, looking everywhere, following where the current went. 6. After a long time, Dolphin saw it! Starfish's shell was stuck in some seaweed, far away. He carefully took it and swam back quickly. 7. When Dolphin came back with the shell, Starfish was so happy! Avery sat by the stream, sad and hungry. When he returned to the docks, the fishermen had packed up and left, and there were no more fish to be found. Avery realised that his greed had cost him his meal. From that day on, Avery learned an important lesson: being greedy can make you lose what you already have. He still loved fish, but he never took more than he needed again.
